----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was not satisfied with my ports; In general every old port I did was not the same as the original source texture wise. Before this I would load the biggest scurve in PhotoShop and compress it down to size, this was the BIGGEST mistake I did back then. Now I make 4 separate dock’s each one to be displayed at a specific resolution to ensure maximum quality just like Mac.(Ex. 86 best displayed no more than 86, if you want bigger dock switch up a size.) So instead of resizing a compressed image you now have the prefect image to choose from depending on the size of your dock. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: My icons here have been extensively edited to mimic a Mac look They are on my default Canvas of 512x635, reflections are the image flipped vertical, transparent gradient, 10 pixel motion blur, and 50% opacity, plus cut so the reflection only show on the parts that I want them to show up on. When this dock is released you must DO THE SAME to achieve the intended result. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So how did I come up with this, well I posed some technical questions on a Mac support forum, and got the answers I needed and amazing nice enough to give me a short tutorial on creating the same effect in Photoshop, So now that I understood what Mac was doing to get that “Mac” look? These docks will be the best docks available for Windows computers. They do require work on your part as far as icons go and this dock “FIN” by imagebender [link] will be released soon.
The first Dock may be as long as a month to be released so please wait patiently. In the mean time I will post some links to the icons used, do not ask for eyeball that is GoR0n’s [link] and its NFR ask him for it, I have it for the future port of his Bloody Dock.
